DMB Ponies Up $100k to Chicago Charities

By Waldo Jaquith
Dave Matthews Band has issued a new letter to the people of Chicago, providing an update on the sewage-dumping situation. It's still not clear whether it was DMB's bus that dumped waste onto a tour boat, but the band has requested a passenger manifest to make things right with them, is seeking to compensate the tour operator, and has donated $100,000 total to a pair of Chicago River environmental groups. In the meantime, they have suspended the bus driver -- what with their not being on tour, though, that doesn't seem to mean much. Guilty or not, the band seems to be behaving as if they're at fault, since they have the resources to be of aid, rather than waiting to see if a court will order them to do so. Thanks to Jason for the tip.
