While it's clear that nancies.org is primarily devoted to the music of the Dave Matthews Band, we've
always seen it as equally important to spread the word about any (and all) worthwhile DMB-related
music releases that we may hear about. After giving a nice listen to the tracks on the upcoming CD,
it's clear that one of those noteworthy releases is
"Monday" by
Mike Sokolowski.
Though the name might not be immediately familiar to you, Mike's piano-playing and his long-time
involvement with the Charlottesville music scene speak from themselves. He's released three CD's
prior to this solo effort: "Common Margins"
with Tim Reynolds, "In November Sunlight"
with Soko (featuring Dave Matthews and Leroi Moore), and the self-titled
"Offering" (featuring Tim Reynolds
and Worth Profitt). If that wasn't enough to give the man some credibility, Mike also recorded a
piano track for an unreleased version of "True Reflections" during the Crash sessions.
Are you interested yet? We hope so. Get your
RealPlayer cued-up
and take a listen for yourself over at the
Breezeway Records site. Take special note of "The Earliest Morning," a beautiful duet
that features Mike on piano and Tim Reynolds on guitar. "Monday" goes on sale on February 6th,
and you will be able to purchase a copy from
MusicToday.com.
Enjoy!
