News nancies.org's New Focus April 01, 2003 Welcome to the new nancies.org! From July 31, 1998 - March 31, 2003, nancies.org was been known as the #1 source of information about Dave Matthews Band. That's all about to change. Beginning today, nancies.org is changing its focus to hot new musician John Mayer. This talented young singer-songwriter is setting the music world on fire with his insightful lyrics, unparalleled guitar playing, and amazing rapport with his fans. JM's respect for his fanbase, tape-trading-based popularity, and bright future may seem familiar to Dave Matthews Band fans: it's exactly what Dave Matthews Band was like in the early 1990s, before they sold out. The entire team here at nancies.org is very excited by the music of John Mayer, and we are very pleased to present to you the result of weeks of hard work, the new nancies.org, the de facto #1 website about John Mayer. Puig to Produce New CD March 29, 2003 The word on the street is that Jack Joseph Puig (Goo Goo Dolls, Beck, Counting Crows, Weezer) has been tapped to produce John's new album. Puig is widely known for his pop production capabilities, having most recently been influenced by the work of producer extordinare Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews Band) after working with him on No Doubt's latest offering. More news on the new album as we receive it, of course. "Why Georgia" VH1's #10 March 26, 2003 "Why Georgia," the third single from Room for Squares, is moving up the charts -- it's now at #10 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown. On the heels of JM's Grammy win, it seems likely that "Why Georgia" will be as big of a hit as "Wonderland" or "No Such Thing." JM Performs with Elton John March 24, 2003 At Elton John's annual fund-raising Academy Awards party at the Marquee in Hollywood, John Mayer performed "No Such Thing," and "Your Body Is a Wonderland," and then joined Elton John on a performance of Elton John's 1974 hit, "The Bitch is Back." The proceeds from the party go to fund HIV and AIDS prevention programs. Mayer on "Pop" Label March 06, 2003 In a candid interview with the Associated Press, John talks about being popular, being defined as a "pop" musician, and where he'd like to be on the charts. Said JM, of the Billboard charts: "Keep me at 15. Fifteen is fine. Five is my No. 1. One is my negative five. Ha! Compute that!" JM Wins a Grammy February 27, 2003 On Sunday, JM won his very first Grammy, for "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance." On the show, he provided a beautiful rendition of "Your Body Is A Wonderland," and the crowd obviously loved him. This will surely be the first of very many Grammys that JM will win over the coming years. |
