Stand Up is not a true compact disc, as it does not meet the Red Book standard that defines a Compact Disc. This is because the album is encumbered with Suncomm's digital rights management (DRM) copy protection software, meaning that not all CD players or computers will play it. Consequently, it does not bear the "compact disc digital audio" logo anywhere on the packaging.

The disc is a "DualDisc," meaning that the flip side of the album is a DVD. It features a short movie about the making of the album, recorded at Haunted Hollow Studio.

This was the first Dave Matthews Band album released on the iTunes Music Store. Tracks could be purchased individually, for $0.99, or collectively, for $11.99.
