Guster! Guster! Guster!
By Alex WendtThis is a bit off topic, but we're expanding our horizons a bit if you will...
It has come to our attention that Steve Lillywhite, producer of many a DMB album, is going to be producing Guster's next album.
Word on the street - err from Ron V. - is that Lillywhite saw Guster at NYC's Irving Plaza and at the TLA last year, liked what he saw, and got along with the guys nicely.... Yadda yadda yadda, he's headed into the studio with them in February.
Here's an excerpt from the band's posting to their mailing list fan2fan:
" ... Steve Lillywhite will be producing our new album. You might recognize his name as the producer of the last three Dave Matthews Band albums. Also, those of you born before 1990 might know that he worked with U2, Peter Gabriel, and the Rolling Stones in the 80's. To recycle a quote from an old Guster Gazette, "we can only hope not to be a big greasy stain on his resume." We're still aiming for a summer release for the cd, and we're still aiming to name the album at some point prior to its release."
Now you've all heard about Guster, but have you heard Guster? Maybe, maybe not. If you'd like to get your hands on their latest release, "goldfly", you should be able to pick it up at your local mega-music-store ("goldfly" was re-released by sire records in mid-1998.) You can get their first independent release "parachute" from guster.com
Special thanks to Ron V. for the great info.
