Dave Plays Bat Mitzvah

A few people e-mailed us this weekend, swearing up and down that Dave had performed at a bat mizvah in Washington D.C. on Saturday. I probably don't need to tell you that, on a daily basis, we get some really crazy e-mail from people. So we chalked this up as a coordinated effort of some nutcases and left it at that. Well, we were wrong. Today's Washington Post reports that AOL executive David Colburn hired Dave to play at his daughter's bat mizvah at Union Station last Saturday night. His oldest daughter's bat mizvah two years ago featured -- no kidding -- 'N Sync. The 400 guests reportedly enjoyed Dave's performance and the over-the-top Las Vegas-themed party. DMB's spokesman says that "all proceeds earned by Matthews will be donated in their entirety to charity." Our thanks (and apologies) to Nat Felder and Mike Seilback for the news.
