#6 Tour of 2002, So Far
By Waldo JaquithJul.16.2002
Pollstar has crunched the numbers on gross ticket income for touring bands during the first six months of 2002, and DMB has come in at #6. Paul McCartney came in #1, followed by Billy Joel; Elton John; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; 'N Sync; and Dave Matthews Band. These figures only include ticket sales, and do not factor in revenue from merchandise and album sales. Thanks to Matt Casey for the tip. Update: Make that #5 -- turns out Billy Joel and Elton John played together on their Face to Face tour, and count as a single performer for the purpose of this ranking.
