Newsweek: DMB 'Buys Back Its Soul'

Newsweek has a web-only review (that is, it doesn't appear in the print version) of Busted Stuff that's written by an unusually-perceptive self-proclaimed "DMB devotee." Author Devin Gordon professes his distate for Everyday, saying of upbeat interviews about the album done by band members, "it was heartbreakingly obvious that the guys were lying through their teeth." Gordon goes on to describe in brief the Lillywhite leak, and how the songs turned into the Busted Stuff versions. It would be misleading to say that he gives the album a glowing review, but he obviously feels a strong affection for it. ("I didn’t like a single song. Every track, 11 altogether, sounded like a mess. I was ecstatic.") This article provides perhaps one of the best overviews to date of the Everyday/Lillywhites/Busted Stuff triumvirate.
