The Gorge Photo Contest
By Waldo Jaquithnancies.org wants your pictures of your weekend at The Gorge this year. We want pictures that capture the excitement of travelling, of meeting new people, of making new friends, and of waking up on the floor of a strange hotel room surrounded by a dozen people that you know primarily by names like "SeekUpJane41." (OK, so it's not all exciting.) We're looking for photographs that capture the communal experience as a whole. Each person can submit up to three photos. One winner will be chosen, though we may end up using many of the submissions in some sort of a Gorge 2002 Yearbook.
The lucky winner will get a Charlottesville gift basket, which will include something along the lines of a six-pack of Root 66 Root Beer, the Cherry Introduction Box from The Cherry Station, a box of Gearhart's Fine Chocolates, a half pound of Mudhouse coffee, a Spencer's 206 t-shirt (sort of like a Miller's t-shirt, only, like, 10x cooler), and probably other stuff that we can't think of right now. The prize has an estimated retail value of $75, but we're not really sure, since we're just making this stuff up as we go along.
Here are the rules:
- No more than three entries per person.
- The contest is open until September 20th at 11:59pm.
- All photos must be from September of 2002.
- Images must be submitted as JPEGs, no larger than 100k each. 72 dpi is fine, and a resolution of at least 640x480 would be good.
- Each photo can have an affiliated caption, if that helps to define the image. (Just specify it in the body of the message.) Helpful captions might provide the location of the picture, the people contained within the picture, the date that it was taken, or a humorous description of the goings-on.
- The submitter and/or photographer's real name must be provided with the submission. No screen names.
- All images must be e-mailed to contest@nancies.org.
- No pictures of the band or the stage at the concert. These are photos of the community that we want, not the band.
- In submitting a photograph, you affirm that you own the copyright to that image, and grant nancies.org, inc. the non-exclusive right to reproduce that image on our website.
- If more than three images are provided, all images after the first three will be discarded. Any submissions received after the deadline will be discarded. Any images that are over 100k will be discarded. Any images that are saved as any image format other than JPEG will be discarded. Any images e-mailed to any address other than contest@nancies.org will be discarded.
- Photos must be good. If they are bad, we might e-mail you and make fun of you. But probably not.
