DMB Signs Anew with RCA

By Waldo Jaquith
Feb.23.2004
Dave Matthews Band has signed a new contract with RCA, extending their ten-year-old relationship with the label. The label-wary band held out before agreeing to their initial contract, leveraging their success with their self-released Remember Two Things to snare a more lucrative contract. DMB has never been shy about criticizing RCA, and the band was rumored to have been shopping around for a new label in late 2002. Thus far, the only information about this new deal has come in the form of a fluffy RCA press release, which provides no useful details, such as the number of additional records to which the band has committed. It's possible that such information will emerge at a later date. Thanks to Ben Platt for the tip.
