DMB to Play Virginia Tech

Confirming the week-old rumors floating around Virginia Tech, the school today announced that DMB would be performing at a concert for Tech students, faculty and staff. Thirty two people were killed and 25 wounded in a shooting there on April 16; the gunman took his own life. The free September 6 show will be held at Lane Stadium, the school's football arena, for no purpose other than to serve as "celebration of life and a tribute to the resiliency and strength of the university community," in the words of its organizers. Tickets will not be available to the general public. Also performing are John Mayer, Phil Vassar, and Nas. The last time DMB performed in Blacksburg was at the Squires Student Center in 1993, though Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds performed at the school's Burruss Auditorium in 1997.
