Dave Matthews Band held a little CD release party for 1500 people at Trax and Maxx nightclubs in Charlottesville, Virginia on Monday, April 29th, 1996. The party was courtesy of Plan 9 Music and the band. Only way to get in was to prepurchase a copy of Crash (w/autographed booklet and lithograph). Sold out in less than two hours (with only the four Plan 9 stores selling them). The party included a performance by Boyd Tinsley with some of his old bandmates and a performance by Dave, Boyd, Stefan, and Tim Reynolds at Max, and a performance by Everything and Dave, Boyd, Stefan, and Tim at Trax.
The band gave away four huge autographed Crash posters and two signed guitars (which were beautiful). And people were able to pick up their copy of Crash at midnight (or shortly there after). All in all, it was a nice gesture by the band and the band's management. The performances were great!!
