Awesome, amazing show... I was in awe... I left Lewiston around 3:30 (it's about a 2 hour drive) with my dad driving, because this was only my 14th birthday present, not my 16th.. Pretty uneventful trip up, got there around 5:30, and went to a little pizza joint right off the campus. Here comes the first interesting part, an article in the student newspaper, "The Maine Campus". And I quote, "the duo tour,... , has been receivving much attention on many forums on the Internet.... The online consensus is that if you are lucky to have tickets, you shouldn't 'act like a moron and scream throughout'. It seems there is a direct correlation between crowds that are respectful and the length of the concert." I thought that was pretty cool. Anyways, they took the stage at about 7:05. I was sitting in the 5th row, about 45 degrees off center. It was a small hall though, and it looked like any seat in the house would be good. It sounded great, too. The crowd was great, I thought, as did Dave. He complemented us several times, said "you guys by far are the kindest crowd to us so far," and even said "that was for being so good to us" after Too Much. The crowd wasn't loud at all, and sat down except between songs. There weren't many requests. Right after Warehouse, everyone was standing, and dave put his finger to his lips, and everyone shut up for Christmas Song... His voice was fine, but his hand seems to be getting bad... During the first half of the show he complained about it often. His left hand "won't untighten", and he said it was somewhere between pins and needles and a dagger in the head. Ouch! Tim acted like a mime the whole show, making fun of Dave and the crowd. Dave made fun of the crowd a couple of times, too. Highlights of the show: Neuticles story: but it wasn't about what he would get his dog, it was about what he would do to himself! He talked about getting 12 balls, and then he compared it to a cauliflower, and made really funny motions to go with it. Proudest Monkey was great, Tim was on fire! Right after that, he went into a little improv song, "cut off your own head... cut it off cut it off cut it off... destroy! destroy!" and then told his Marilyn Manson, "this place is a toilet" story. He called the new song Crazy, not captain of this ship, so it seems he's changed the name. Two Step was amazing, it got everyone grooving. Tim was on the whole night, but he went wild for Nancies and Jimi Thing... His solo song was great, but I don't know what it was called, because I've never heard his solo stuff before. The encore was great: Dave did his screaming intro to Warehouse and then quieted everyone down for Christmas song, which was totally beautiful. All in all, it was a totally amazing evening. Even my Dad liked it. They played for about 2:45.
