all in all a must-have show. unfortunately i didn't get to meet any nancies b/c i got there late for assorted reasons and i also saw NO tapers. ;( it would be a shame to miss out on this show. to my knowlege, it is the first and ONLY time mr. popper or any other guest besides stefan -- who was jammin his ass off tonite -- has ever been there. the setlist was amazing. i just wish i could have caught the 1st 2 songs. timmy was amazing as usual. you are my sanity was absolutely beautiful and i have to admit, let you down and too much -- which was sooooo funky -- even made me groove. im actuall learning to appreciate those 2 songs.

before 2 step ... someone in the front rows screamed it out and dave thought he say "you suck !" he was taken aback and asked if that was what he said -- i think it was a way of mocking all the schmuckeroos who kept yelling during the WHOLE show, at least trying to show that HE CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT PEOPLE ARE SCREAMING. ;) of cocurse no one got the message .... but anyway, after the guy who screamed it yelled it again, dave was kind of like "damn, got me scared that someone would come to see me and yell that out ..." made me giggle. ;p but right aafter that .. there was this looooong two step intro. really groovin.

i think "little thing" needs a new name. i mean i wonoder what dave calls it now b/c the early 96' tour story with the "damn she was sooooooooooooooooo fine" is long gone. the song now focuses in on death and rain ... he introduced it by talking about what a melancholy day it was outside ...

the hall was nice i like the acoustics a lot. lots and lots o' cadets mixed in with all us crazy peeples. it was a VeRy weird juxtaposition. parking was a mess. oh and in case you're wondering about the crowd .... they were ... ummm OK. i mean, i tried my damndest to keep the little dorkies out of my mind and believe me it was damn hard. i'm really really getting pissed off at the scene. it's not my right to tell anyone wat to do, but jeezus ... clapping during typical situation !? screaming to your friends just so you can seem cool ? telling dave i love you !? LEAVING TO GO TO THE BATHROOM DURING TIM'S SONGS ?! holy shit. i couldn't deal. the man plays the opening to sanity and there's this mass exodus. goddam. i was so dissapointed. but it was weird. every time something ot to me, i closed my eyes and SAW music. i blocked it all out. and it was beautiful. nancies was beautiful. stream was amazing. crash blew my mind. and when popper came out... we all stood and danced and danced and sang ....

and the losers and schmucks who came to get fucked up and meet their friends alll faded away. if people get to you ... just try it. don't add tot bad vibe, just close your eyes and listen. it does wonders. ;)

oh and one more thing ... i was thinking jimi-->WWBOM ? that is also a weird juxtaposition huh ? my thought on it ... if the main song is -- at least in one sense -- about getting high, WWBOM may represent coming down from that carefree high and realizing the seriousness of life and the finality and inescapibility of death. just a thought. discuss. ;)

It was an excellent show, I'm pretty confident that there has never been a better Dave and Tim show. I'll start out with my only gripe. Some people have no judgment -- they scream, clap, request songs, yell vulgar comments right in the middle of songs. Anyhow, in the car on the way up, we were making predictions about the show. During the ride Sasha, the oracle, predicted not only Stefan but also Popper. Two for two :) When we got there Sasha, the oracle, and I spoke with an extremely reliable source (who's close to the band) who confirmed our predictions about Popper and Stefan. My first impressions of Eisenhower Hall were that it was gigantic for a D&T show and that the acoustics would be either really bad or very good -- it proved to be the latter. I also had a feeling that the crowd would suck, which it did. I'll comment about only the things I found interesting and haven't been mentioned yet. During Proud n' Funky, Tim made some unbelievable effects on his guitar -- including monkey sounds and drum effects. One of the best Two Steps I've heard -- Dave broke a string and the jam got better. Stream and Sanity were excellent, but the crowd didn't shut up during both of them. Angel was very good, probably due to the fact that most of the crowd didn't know the song so they were quiet. Dave actually introduced it by saying "This song is by John Prine" which was interesting. I really liked the slow Too Much, but they shouldn't overdo that in Sasha's not-quite-humble opinion because it's "in a sense almost a parody of the song". Popper was awesome -- his entrance transformed the show into the atmosphere of a DMB show. Everyone stood up and danced for WWYS and remained standing for the remainder of the show. The acoustic #36 was a complete surprise and it still jammed without the drums, et al.
