Unknown song 1: Similar rhythm to Minarets - some of the lyrics I caught: "no mother and no child could resist", "still I should call it home", "tell my sons and my daughters to hold it so dear and share it with everyone". He ended it with a snippet of "This Land is Your Land". After the song he said "That was a little jam for you". No name.. Unknown song #2: Slow and beautiful. Lyrics I think I heard: "dreamed I killed a guy and woke up", "please, please, no, don't", "only a dream, only a dream", "remember 1970" (may have been 1979). This song totally blew me away... High points: Tim's solos on Nancies and Billies and his own song, the intro to Warehouse (high pitched yet melodic screaming), What Will Become of Us/Me (similar chord structure to #41), unknown song 2, and Dave was just flat out funny. He offered to replace a heckler's balls with chihuahua neuticals....%0

This was my friend's first D&T experience, so I was hoping for a great show. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. This isn't to say that Dave and Tim didn't do a good job, but DM didn't look like he was having as much fun as he usually does. I was pretty sure that he was getting very aggravated with the crowd... On to song comments! Ready? Here we go... LIOG: GREAT opener. During the pause, I honestly thought Dave wouldn't finish the song, like he did at one of the other shows. He took a drink of water (as per usual) :) and then told everyone to sit down (3/4 of the place was standing and yelling), demonstrated to them how they could go about dancing in their seats, and then got up and demonstrated how silly they all looked standing up. He sat back down, took another drink, and then finished it out. Very cool, except for the fact that there was no, "And then we dance away." :( #41: Excellent as always. What more can I say? People finally started sitting down at LYD. The security came out in full effect and started making people get out of the aisles and back into some semblence of order. That was great. I think part of the rowdy crowd problem was the fact that the Paramount has a pretty kickin' bar service in the front, and you can bring your drinks to the seats with you. Let me tell you, the bartender there makes one hell of a strong Jack and Coke! Stream: Too damn cool. Mass exodus of crowd, but that was cool as far as I was concerned, 'cause that just meant that I could sit back and enjoy myself. Tim is amazing. Jimi: I really think that we should quit calling this outro "What Will Become of Me?" and change it to "What Will Become of Us?" Great song. The untitled song #1 is listed at the official website as "Leave Me Praying." I am here to tell y'all that it is our old friend "Weight of the World," back from the dead. Wow. Great damn song. Of course the words have changed. :) It wouldn't be a Dave Matthews original if it didn't change. :) It is now about mothers and children and things like that--being DM, he mumbled a lot, too. The old, "This Land Is Your Land," is still at the end, though. Welcome back!! TSTJL: Dave broke ANOTHER string in this song--couldn't finish it. He says, "I can't fucking play this song like this!" So, a *very* short version of this one. Too bad. That other new song...played again the next night. What is this one??!! It's cool, I'll tell you that much! That is about it for me on this night. I forgot my pen and paper, so I am operating at a bit of a loss, here. I do have to say that it was a short show, and it didn't look like Dave and Tim were having all that much fun. I think that was the first show I have ever been to where it actually looked like playing was a job for the boys. Not cool. I hope I never have to see that again, since a big part of the enjoyment for me is the fact that I know *they* are having a good time. The next night more than made up for it, though--go read that review! :)
