Great show, even though we were so far back on the lawn that Dave looked like an ant on stage! Good thing I had my binoculars. My favorite songs were "Say Goodbye" and "Ants Marching". They really jammed. "Warehouse" also cranked. "Two Step" and "Jimi Thing" were great also. Bela Fleck joined Dave for a few songs and jammed on his banjo. The violin was awesome! Dave has the cutest little dance steps. (You know those little foot movements he makes.) :-) There were a lot of teeny boppers running around. One guy threw up for the whole concert behind me. What a waste! I felt so old! I think the average age was about 18. The 29 year olds, like me, were mellow and laid back. Sure we had our share of beverages in the parking lot. The police on bikes confiscated a lot of the under age drinkers beers. What do they do with all that collected beer?? Hmmm? All and all the show was good and the Dave Matthews Band Rules!!

I'm at work so early, and I've gotten no sleep for the past 2 nights, but I have to comment about last nights show. I think this is about my 6th time seeing them, and this was without a doubt the best I've ever seen. They really seemed to be having a great time, and they jammed like I've never seen before. I think that having Bela around is really rubbing off on them. First of all, go in early to see Bela!!! I've never been in such awe of any band. They are just unbelieveably talented, and they deserve all the success in the world. The Stomping Ground and Sinister Minister that they played absolutely made my jaw drop and gave me chills. Really mazing stuff. The setlist has already been posted, so I'll just mention a few hilights for me. #41 - I don't care how many times I hear this one, or how many drunk little girls there are behind me screaming out the wrong words, this song just always does it for me. Jimi Thing- A long, very hard jam... Typical Situation- Once again, Bela joined in on this song, and he just adds a whole new element to the sound. At one point, Dave, Bela, Boyd, and Stefan were all gathered around Carter, just watching him, and jamming off each other.... I wish I had a picture of that one. Weight of the World/Leave Me Praying- Played for the 1st encore...just Dave, Carter, and Stefan. It was great hearing other than with just Tim. A very powerful song. Can't wait for this one to develop... Ants- Again, with Bela. The happiest, genuinely excited version I've ever seen. Boyd and Bela jammed and traded licks for a long time at the end. For other reasons, this was a very special show for my friends and I, and it couldn't have been more perfect. I ran into JerryC in the parking lot, and finally got met JK. Unfortunately, no tickets for tonight, but that's ok. To everyone going, have a great time. Take care, all.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! That's all I can say. This was my second DMB concert, and it lived up to every single expectation. There were so many surprises, and that was great. Here's the run down: Two Step -- I was surprised to hear this one as an opener, seeing that they'd just used it a couple nights ago. Personally, although I like this song, I think that they have better options to open up with. Song that Jane Likes -- YES! This was suprise #1. Very excited to hear this one. So much energy! I love the intro and outro. Jimi Thing -- I timed 15 minutes. Very grooving. Nice little reaction after "smoke my mind...", seeing that ahlf the place was stoned. Tripping Billies -- God, it was funny when they did the nature intro. I just said to my friends "this place is going to explode". It was hilarious; their newest radio song, and so few people knew what was happening! Until of course, those opening chords... Great version; Boyd was awesome. #41 -- Crash Version. Nothing Special. Say Goodbye -- Okay, there were four crash teeny bopper girls behind us that wouldn't stop screaming who were ruining much of the songs, and singing constantly. I was laughing quite hard as, in their stoned state, they got p.o.'d when Dave changed the lyrics. They were just like "what? huh?" Good version of this, my fifth favorite song. DIDO -- No more or less than it ever is; regular DIDO. Crash -- Okay, I know that a lot of us hardcore fans don't like this one, but I do. But when Dave did the short version, it was absolutely disgusting. It was the only time I got made at Dave all night. The jam has such potential! Minarets -- Cool Intro. I don't think anyone there owned R2T, cuz lots of people were sitting down. But I liked it. Typical Situation -- WOW!!! My 2nd favorite song of the night. BELA IS AWESOME! I love the jam, and when he finally did the last "everybody's happy, everybody's free" that's just how I felt. True Reflections -- GREAT! This was the biggest suprise of the night! Never thought I'd hear this one. This was the first unreleased song I heard back in October, and it was cool to hear it again. Boyd messed up the lyrics once "you think your life is like a desert, where it all works out in the end", and that was cool. Warehouse -- This was great. Never thought I'd hear it. This is easily my favorite song, and I went absolutely mad. I was shaking so hard, and I just screamed and screamed and screamed. It was amazing, easily the best 7 minutes of 1997 thus far. Thanks for playing it, guys. SMTS -- Album Cut Little Baby Jam -- Cool! This may just make a decent song some day. Too Much -- I like it as a closer. "I'm gonna eat up your children" was there but "I eat too much, I drink too much, I f*ck too much wasn't. :-!!!!!!!!

Very little talk, nothing that would qualify as Davespeak...the band's attention seemed completely on the music. Each song more beautiful than the next. Full treatment of every single entry. Minarets was a religious experience. True Reflections! Boyd's voice was better than I've ever heard it on a tape, having never witnessed this one live, Dave's backup was just right, Roi's contribution elegant. Weight of the World was otherworldly. Saving Ants for the very end was perfect. This show left me praying. Thank you, thank you.
