Guster Rocks!!! I knew this but I figured I would share with everyone else. They played a great short set. BOWA started things off. It was great and full of energy. Energy was actually the word for the night. I figured it would be hard to top last night and seeing how it was the third show, it was surprising that this show seemed to have the most energy. The SMTS >ASTB >Too Much triptych was great. Dave has really worked out his solos and the middle of ASTB showed it a lot. It was a great jam from Dave. Granny had a cute little intro that I had never heard before. Granny was just great. Dave broke a string on the 12 string guitar at the beginning of Sweet Up and Down which caused Carter to have a great little fill in the beginning. Dave ended up playing the song on a normal 6 string guitar. Dave broke another guitar string at the end of R&R but it was close enough to the end he didn't get another. There was a lot of DaveSpeak tonight. He said something about 'making out in the rain, if there are two consenting adults.almost adults.or people who make out.' It was pretty funny. LIOG was next and was great even though it was already heard earlier in the stand. More DaveSpeak about wanting to drink and getting more than a buzz from it and then they went into Bartender. Bartender was best tonight. Dave's howls were better and Carter was much more into the song. He jammed out at the end. Carter was playing better most of the night. He seemed to be more into the show than either of the others. More DaveSpeak: something about a lovely breeze. Say Goodbye was great-chills at the end. Carter was jamming more than usual for Satellite. DaveSpeak about a Scary, scary night. Dan Meyers, who played with Guster for their last two songs, came out at this point with his alto. John the Revelator sounded a little better but I still have some major problems with the song. First, the lines saying John the Revelator need to be put back into the song. Second, the song doesn't flow into the jam at the end. They need to work out a new jam or some logical musical segue to get into the jam they have. It just happens now and it doesn't work. Dan stayed out and play soprano sax for Crash. This was the best version of Crash I have ever heard live. I still like this song best when Tim is with the band because he adds the high guitar riffs at the end but Dan Meyers added a lot with his soprano. Roi and Dan had an awesome sax jam at the end that was pretty long. Dave broke another guitar string during Crash. Dan picked his alto back up for Tower. The duet intro was great. I wonder if it is standard issue with tower now. Roi and Dan did another sax duet in the middle. Dan started and added a fresh flavor to the sax solo in tower. Roi was not to be outdone and played the best jam I have ever heard for tower. It was only 10:00 but the band left. They came back out and someone threw a glowstick on stage. Dave came up and said "Don't you know it ain't (I am just relaying this directly) the Halloween season." This stoked me because I wanted to hear Halloween but they didn't do it. They played DIDO and it rocked. I was talking with a friend before the show and said expect Stone or DIDO again because they needed to redeem themselves from the first night. Dave could tell they were slow the first night because he tried to turn around and speed them up but the band was set at the slow tempo (he just shook his head). During DIDO people were throwing the glowsticks all over the place. Many ended up on stage, which I thought was extremely rude and I was getting worried that Dave or someone else in the band was going to get pissed (I would have). There were about 50 that ended up on stage at this point. Carter was just back there jamming his heart out while blowing bubbles with his gum and then DIDO went right into the Ants. The band left and it wasn't even 10:30. The early ended was disappointing. Even though they played a good number of songs, they were mostly short songs and no real long jams other than LIOG. It was upsetting not to hear a Seek Up in three nights. I figured they wouldn't put it in the middle of the set once they opened with BOWA. It would have been a nice addition to a set full of short songs though. Last note: the light show seems to be much better this year. It just works better and adds more emphasis than I ever remember. Well, until Deer Creek new year. I bid you all adieu.

Fantastic show! I think it may have been the best of the three Deer Creeks. I may be biased though, I was very close for this one! It started well with Best of Whats Around. An early highlight of the show was So Much To Say. The jam in the middle of the song was fantastic. Too Much was also very good. At some point in the first half of the concert, Dave couldn't get his guitar to work. The tech handed him another one, but this one wouldn't work either. So, the tech came out and did something to it and it started working. Dave just raised his arms up in the air with a smile because he couldn't seem to run his own guitar. Granny was great of course. The next highlight of the show was Lie in Our Graves. Boyd's solo started out slow, but then really took off. He got a huge grin on his face a started performing for the crowd. At some point in his solo I heard some classical music (Bach?). Bartender was very good. I just can't get enough of that song. Dave said something like sometimes you look down at your cup (alcoholic drink) and hope there's more than a buzz there! They then went right into Bartender. A huge drum solo preceded Say Goodbye. The crowd loved that. Crash and JTR were very good with the guest sax player named Dan Myers. Crash was especially cool with Dan playing a soprano? and Leroi on the baritone? sax. Then, after a long bass/Guitar intro to All Along the Watchtower, Dan really tore it up with his solo. I was very impressed. I think that band was really impressed also. They came back for a Drive in Drive Out and Ants Marching encore that was of course very good. Overall, I'd say their three shows at Deer Creek were very successful.

Just walked in from the show. Not the best weather conditions, but the rain did let up before the show and started again on the way home. Although the band was tight and sounded great, I am very disappointed that DMB, with a repetoire of 60+ active songs, couldn't come up with a different setlist. 6 of the songs were the same as Thursday's show, and he played Bartender all 3 nights. The good news is that I got to hear Granny and Watchtower, but I was awfully disappointed not to hear Seek Up, Rapunzel, or some of the other great songs he can pull out. As far as the lineup went, everything was great (other than the placement of Watchtower). Roi did a great solo on BOWA, ASTB was awesome (and my first time being able to here it live), and Dave played Granny perfectly. Boyd had a 12 minute solo on LIOG. It was fantastic. Bartender was once again played with the whole band as a full song (8+ minutes). Carter started Say Goodbye with about a 5 minute drum solo and then Roi played the flute solo into the song. John the Revelator once again left me scratching my head. They must be turning the song into a different direction as the words "John the Revelator" are never said/sang. They did a similar jam on JTR that they did on Thursday. Watchtower was of course great. Boyd did a solo, then Dan Meyer who sat in on alto sax for 3 songs did a solo, then Roi, then they both played for a few minutes. LIOG was again my favorite tonight. They brought it down to barely moving and barely audible and then stopped and did the usual breakout into the rest of the song. Happy to hear them again in Indianapolis and glad they opened the 3rd date, but overall I was disappointed in the repeated songs from the other two nights. Bye for now DMB'ers.

I would have to rate this a good show. It was comparable to last night on the level of being great. It did rain very hard before the show and as a result, the pavillion seats were wet and the equipment was covered up. Besides the fact that Dave broke a lot of stinrgs the show went pretty smoothly. There was some legitimate DaveSpeak going on too. Couldn't hear a lot of it because it was noisy, but if you get the show you'll know what I'm talking about. I think this crowd was the most motivated though out of all three nights. A little too much socializing going on, but no worse than last night. First I want to start off by saying that Guster put on a hell of a show!! I am excited to see them in Riverbend too. That being said, now on to DMB. Starting out with a BOWA openner, Sounded great, makes for a good openner. Sounded standard. SMTS with Under the Bridge was nice to hear. Too much was cool to hear courtesy of the Suck it up Fuck it up. Granny, always nice to hear, was wondering if that was going to pop up. SUAD they are starting to play too much. That's been played too much now. Good song but it's being played a little much. However it was neat when Dave R&R, sounded excellent, was wondering when the was going to pop up during the Deer Creek series. LIOG sounded excellent. I liked Boyd's solo much better tonight. He started off slow and worked his way up. Sounded perfect. Bartender, sounded standard. Say Goodbye, I was wondering when that was going to pop up. Carter had a great solo to start it off as always. Song sounded great. Satellite, once was enough for me. Not bad to hear again though. JTR sounded excellent! Especially with the presence of Dan Myers. I even saw the whole band clap for him at the end of the song including LeRoi, probably the most emotion I have ever seen out of him! Crash, figure it was coming again, sounded good with the presence of Dan. Watchtower always makes for a good closer. The crowed was fully energized for it and Dan had a wonderful solo in the middle of the song. Sounded superb. He was really gettin' into his solo. Encore, DIDO sounded standard. I was getting very pissed at the inconsiderate bastards throwing the neon lights. It was ok in the beginning, till they started throwing them on stage. Then it got out of hand. Anyone who did that that reads this should be ashamed of theirselves. Anyway, Ants, good closer as always and I figured it would be the closer, too easy to predict. Good show all in all. It's off to Rivebend now, see ya....

What an amazing day for me at least! It started off at the shopping mall in downtown Indy, where I met Boyd and LeRoi, both were very nice, and signed a crash cd that I bought as soon as I saw them. My friend and I also made a sign for Carter, and he personally walked over to us after the show and handed both my friend and I drumsticks. There was also some Davespeak about our sign. We thankfully managed to climb into the front row, and Dave made lots of eye contact with us, seemed pretty surprised that we knew Bartender word for word, he gave us a thumbs up after the show was over. As for the show, this didn't compare to last night's show with the kick ass Recently, but at least Granny and Say Goodbye made an appearance! GUSTER IS GOING TO CONQUER THE WORLD!!! On to Riverbend!

alright, i wish i could have gone to all three nights at deer creek b/c they always play kick ass shows there, but alas i am poor and could only afford one night in deer creek and one in cinti. but, i just would like to say that saturdays show kicked ass. it was my fourth dave show (and my first outside of cinti), and i would have to say that even though it was a short show it kicked ass. unfortunately traffic prevented me from seeing most of gusters set, but i caught the last two and a half songs at least. ill have to make sure to get there way early on monday b/c they rock. dave came out full of energy from the beginning, bowa in my opinion is the best opener, except maybe an extended seek up. then smts->astb->too much really got the crowd going. there was a lot of energy from the get-go, dave was dancing a lot tonight, more than ive seen him before, and his solos were much better than i ever rememeber. i was surprised but very plesantly surprised to hear granny. it was the first time i heard su&d and i definately approve. r&r is one of my favorites, and liog was simply great. great solos, great jam. just great. i was very surprised by bartender. at first i was disappointed that he had changed the strumming pattern from the acoustic tour, but as the song went on everyone got really into it. daves wails were the best ive ever heard, studio or live. say goodbye really got the crowd going. there was a sexual air to the night, and lerois long intro got the crowd really pumping. satellite was good but typical. i know a lot of people dont like jtr yet, claiming the song doesnt fit together, but i would have to say that it may be the best of the new songs, w/o having heard raven or grey street yet. crash was the best version i have ever heard. the crowd was way into it, and the band was just on. dave broke a string just before 'im king of the castle...', so there was a very extended jam in the meantime, and then dave came back w/'i watch you there through the window and i stare at you wear nothing but you wear it so well im king of the castle youre the dirty rascle' which ive never heard him do before, perhaps because of the broken string. he broke a lot of strings, at least four that i could tell. as dave started the watchtower intro the ten or so of us around who actually knew what it was all went nuts. it was my first watchtower, and definately a great version. tons of energy! there was a long break before the encore and the crowd was getting restless. im not a big dido fan, but it was good none the less. people were throwing around glow sticks like crazy and dave came out and said 'its not halloween season', except i didnt hear the 'not.' the lights went orange and i though for sure halloween would be next and got all excited, but it was only dido. during the songs the glow sticks flew, there were probably at least 60 in the air most of the time, and from the lawn it looked really cool. many landed on the stage, so i dont know if the band was getting pissed, but when dave came out for the encore he tried to catch one, so i think they were cool w/it. it looked great anyway. dido went right into ants, with extended everything. the opening was a few minutes long, and boyds solo was absolutly awesome. i really cant say anything about it except wow. overall i was very impressed w/everything. deer creek is a very nice place, the set and lighting was very cool. as it had rained much of the day i was hoping it would rain at the concert b/c that would just be cool, but it stayed pretty dry. the band was more on than ive ever heard them, and though the show was short it was definately an energized and full set. so back home to cinti w/high expectations.

Well, having not really listened to dave in about a year, i went with hopes to just hear anything at all. I totally dug the show, perhaps due to the fact that i just hadn't heard them in so lomng. I usually HATE smts-astb-toomuch, but i was just so into it. Also, i didn't *hate* the fact that they played both satellite and Cim. I hadn't heard the new song, sweet up and down, and i really liked it upon hearing it last night. It seems very funky. At the encore, i thought i heard dave saying sometihng like, "this isn't halloween season" or some shit, so i was like, hell yeah man, Halloween-- needless to say it didn't happen. My only problem with the show was that it was SO short-- the shortest i've ever experienced. I would have loved for it to go longer, considering those of us out on the lawn had to have rain drizzling on us periodically, and deal with mass amounts of mud. Anyway, the crowd was surprisingly good-- pot being passed everywhere-- and cigarettes being rolled, hehe...rob :)
