Well it was a amazing show by the dave matthews band. It was my first show and i must say it was incredible. I actually missed the first 3 songs by the group(DDTW,GREY, and YNK) which i all wanted to hear.....horrible traffic. SMTS>TOO MUCHtoomuchgre brought the crowd to its feet. Also a at ANSTB by dave and stefan. Next up was the unexpected SAY GOODBYE. The drumming was nothing short of spectacular by Carter. Alot of emotion was put by the band. Next was Proudest Monkey segued into Satellite. Another crowd pleaser. Next up was FTK which was actually pretty good. Very confusing drumming parts for Carter(one can imagine how he pulls it off) I actually thought their were gonna be more EVRY tunes but only 3 and no IDI. Next was BART which blew everyones mind with Dave's wordless wail. Next up was the bluesy CAPT which is pretty fucking good live. Sounds like Crush in alot of ways. Great bass work. Jimi Thing was next and it had to be one of the highlites along with Billies. Boys was awesome their. I think he changes a couple violin parts. Great jam at the end with Roi and Dave doing some guitar work i havent seen him do. WTWE was short and sweet. Nothing great or bad about it. KKJ was followed. Wierd ass lyrics but fun and well played nonetheless. I really like the drumming by Carter. WRUGOING followed with out Loving Wings. Nice and good to hear. I was actually thinking of 2STEP but the boys brought BILLIES and was just incredible. Boys was on fire as usual. A great closer. The encore brought dave doing Gravedigger. Decent song, Nothing that good. I wanted ANTS bought What You Are was played passionatly and brought the great On Your fucking Knees outro. Amazing first show for me...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of any given show. Here is mine. Holy God in His Heaven! With tonight's fantastic setlist, the band is thrice forgiven for omitting Pittsburgh from last year's tour. I don't know how he'll top it tomorrow, but I hope he does. Anywho, couldn't ask for a better first half of the show. DDTW kicked ass as an opener. (Where were Roi's shades?! They were off and on throughout) Grey Street is perenially awesome. YNK rocked! SMTS, the bridge, then Too Much! I was hoping for this! Say Goodbye came way out of left field, but I loved it even in tonight's shortened form. I was also hoping for Bartender and boy did I get it! The wailing was on tonight. The show took a mellow turn with Captain, which was just fine by me cause I needed a breather. The show picked right back up with Jimi Thing. Boyd and Roi were on fire. The show continued to rock with KKJ and WTWE! Had to play WYAG, but I really like that song. Couldn't have asked for a better closer than Billies. The encore was almost a letdown. Gravedigger sounds great, but I'm still unsure about WYA as a closer. Even so, I loved the Floydesque intro though and the "Get down on your knees motherfucker!" Tonight was one of the best if not the best of the five I've seen. I can't wait 'til tomorrow night! Peace!

My 8th DMB experience, and it ranks up there at about 3 (just under 8.4.98 and 12.8.00). I could tell half way during DDTW that this would be a jammin show, due to Dave's gitty dancing, a la 1996, and the overall fired up energy of the crowd. Not only a good mix of old and new, but of "quiet ones and loud ones" too. Dave obeyed my shirt "Don't Play I Did It" and thankfully only played a few songs off Everyday. Goodbye > Proudest > Satellite were breathtaking musical moments of my life that brought me back to the reasons I started listening to DMB in the first place. Bartender was happenin. I feel priveleged to have seen the funked-out jam at the end of Jimi Thing, and a Dave guitar solo is something to cherish. The hand of God must have guided Dave's hand when writing Tripping Billies into the setlist for tonight, because it absolutely blew the roof off. I think I might have seen Boyd's dreads literally fall out of his head on to the floor. Decent encore, I'm digging the outro to What You Are. All in all a phenomenal setlist to accompany a jammin crowd at the best venue around. Hats off to Star Lake...lookin forward to tomorrow!

A fan of the band since UTTAD, this was actually my first show. I'm just not a concert person. To be honest I was kinda disappointed, but thats because I'm mostly into the old stuff and don't listen to Everyday-type songs a lot. Tripping Billies ROCKED and Dave had a great jam during Jimi Thing where he popped his low e like it was a bass. Say Goodbye was great too. The band seemed to be kind of 'flat' on some songs (SMTS and TM come to mind). The encore was woefully short, but I kinda dig Gravedigger now that I've heard it live instead of on my computer. I don't want to complain because when those musicians are up there doing what they do theyre doing it well, but if they would have done some Warehouse or Best of Whats Around I would have gone home GIDDY. Of course, they have another show tomorrow and I guess they couldnt play everything today. By that logic, tomorrow's show will ROCK. I just hope I can score some tickets...

This was my third concert this year, the others being 4/5 and 4/24, and I believe it was the best of the three. Our seats were GREAT-second row in the pit. The band seemed really loose tonight, Leroi even took his sunglasses off after the first song. My girlfriend was worried Roi was going to pass out because it was so hot there. I also saw Wendy, the traveling nancy make her way into the pit, she walked on the row of chairs ahead of us before the chairs were taken out. I smiled and said hi. Here's a quick rundown of the songs with notes: -Don't Drink the Water, shades of 4.5 all over again. It was tight, but nothing extraordinary. -Grey Street- really got the people in the Pit moving around and excited. Dave pumped his fist at the end of the song. -You Never Know-Carter began on the rims and played for a minute before the rest of the band jumped in -So Much to Say->Anyone Seen the Bridge-->Too Much- SMTS was standard, but Dave was doing rapper-like hand movements with his hands during the intro of ASTB. He was really getting into it. And during Too Much he danced like a madman. -Say Goodbye- the big surprise of the day. It was standard, but beautiful. -Proudest Monkey-->Satellite- Dave did the first 2 verses of PM solo before the rest of the band jammed it out. The crowd seemed to be digging it despite the slow tempo. Satellite was rather boring. Nothing special. -Fool to Think-:( the best part about it was they jammed it out at the end. -Bartender-good version, but Leroi stuggled with the pennywhistle at the end, it sounded rather bad. -Captain-My first time hearing it live, I was pleased and I think it may become a concert staple. -Jimi Thing- They jammed it out on this song, as usual. Boyd's solos were great, but Dave stole the song with his guitar solo and his heavy funky sounding notes. -WTWE- standard as usual. -Kit Kat Jam- the band really got into this song, especially Stefan. I loved it. No one else knew what was really going on, but I think this song will grow on a lot of people. -WAYG-nothing special, I am getting tired of this song a little bit. -Tripping Billies- Boyd went nuts as usual ENCORE -Gravedigger-Dave came out and talked with some fans in the front row and told them, "oh it's coming." GD sounded different from the spring versions, and I like it alot more. -What You Are- The new popular closer got the crowd going and Dave added his awesome outro lyrics. *This was a great concert, I can't wait to get a bootleg of it!!!! I also can't wait for tomorrow!

Okay, let me catch my breath here. A normal opening with DDTW with some good energy, got me pumped for the show but nothing could prepare me for what was to come. GREY STREET hit strong and I love the song so it kept the vibe going. YNK was pretty damn good and has a real positive tone to it that makes me smile. Ok heres where things got insane... SMTS=>TOO MUCH, well done as usual, notice that all the songs so far have had a ton of energy. OK they get done with Too Much and Carter is doing the THUD THUD drum beat that makes me think of the intro to PNP/Rapunzel but no, holy mother of God, SAY GOODBYE, what a wonderful treat. PROUDEST MONKEY=>SATELLITE, both great to hear and slow the pace a bit from all the powerful songs that opened the show. FOOL TO THINK was great to hear since its one of the better Everyday songs and I hadnt heard it live yet. BARTENDER rocked the house and is almost it's own mini-concert. CAPTAIN was pretty cool and had me dancing a bit, and then JIMI THING pops up outa nowhere and jams like mad. WTWE was standard but also a welcome Everyday song. KKJ was so tight and had me moving more than I was during Captain and Jimi Thing. The lyrics crack me up. WHERE ARE YOU GOING was cool but Im starting to get bored of it at every show. TRIPPING BILLIES was a tremendous closer and had everybody bouncin all over the place. The encore was almost perfect, GRAVE DIGGER, and WYA. These two together get the mood going again and leave you feeling satisfied. I believe that this is one of the best shows the band has played in recent years in terms of their energy on stage and the setlist itself. Definatly look into downloading this when its out in a few weeks.

High point: Tripping Billies. Low points: Everything else, but mostly having our car break down 20 minutes from the venue, getting there after 9 songs have already been played, and getting projectile vomitted on. It wasn't our lucky night. We came from cleveland, and we just got back (5:30 am). It was a fun ride with 3 of us sharing the front seat of the tow truck for 2 1/2 hours. But I guess I should talk about the show, or what I saw of it anyway. I got there right at the beginning of bartender, sweet action. It was nice to hear captain and kit kat jam, mostly because I have a feeling they're not gonna be in regular rotation after this year. There was a mass-exodus of the crowd to piss or get beer or whatever during both these songs, moreso during KKJ. I missed most of the words to KKJ because a drunk guy who was passed out in a lawn chair behind me vomited on the backs of my legs. =) Everything else I heard was more or less standard, with the exeption of billies. There was so much energy on ths song. I have to admit I screamed like a girl and almost pissed myself when it first came on, I've wanted to hear this one for a long time. Dave's feet just started going crazy, I've heard he hasn't been dancing a lot this tour, so I guess I can say it was totally old skool. Dave and Boyd were 'facing off' through the entire jam, it totally kicked ass. It was nice to hear gravedigger for the first time, it definitely will be interesting to hear a studio recording and/or full band version of this song some day. What You Are was a poor and predictable closer. F the world, Get down on your knees, blah blah, who gives a shit. I thought I was jaded for encores after 3 straight PNP->Rapunzel, but it got worse. Why not use WYA as the set closer and Billies for the encore, that woulda been so much better. I was pretty pissed to miss what I missed, especially Say Goodbye, PM-> satellite. But oh well, shit happens.

This was my twelth show and it was fucking sick. After moving all the chairs out of the pit my friend and I moved to the front row which was awesome. The band did some interesting things during the show that I have never seen in my previous eleven shows... DDTW: I actually called Grey Street but this song was great for getting the energy level up. At this point, it was sos fucking hot in the front that everyone was sweating profusely. Grey Street: This is the best Grey Street I have ever seen or heard on recordings. Dave seemed so into the song . His vocals seemed to be coming right fro mthe heart. He was putting so much emotion into it. YNK: Great...first time I heard it SMTS ---ASTB---TM - Well i must say i was dissapointed to hear this at first cause I have hear TM at EVERY show I have been to. The ASTB jam really made up for it though. He did more scatting at the beginning than I cahave ever heard. Come to think of it, he did more scatting on every song. Say Goodbye: If I hadn't heard this at the soundcheck this song would have been a surprise. DAMN! it was good though. Carter's solo was sweet as usual. Proudest Monkey --->Satellite : Proudest Monkey yis such a damn good song. It used to be my favorite, now it's just one of my favorites. Leroi's solo kicked ass. Satellite was tight. FTT : not bad Bartender: WOWOWOWOWOWOW yeah it was amazing. Dave was going nuts...NUTS. Then I heard something I had never heard prior to his...a butch taylor solo on bartender. It was like a 3 minute solo and then loeroi came on with a sweet pennywhistle outro. Captain : I love this song much better live. Carter was awesome on it Jimi Thing: The highlight of the night. I heard this at Hershey last year and it had kind of a chill vibe to it. This Jimi thing did not. On Boyd's first two solos he was going CRAZY which set the tone for the rest of the song. I noticed that after Leroi's solo Boyd says into the IEM "good job" which I had never seen before. That just shows how sick Leroi's solo was. Then dave's solo was amazing. He was grooving with a kind bass jam on his guitar (i don't know how to describe it) anyway..it was so great. WTWE: nothing special KKJ : Great song. They definitely turned up the volume on the vocals for tor this song.. anyone else notice??? no plastic asshole but the plastic lyrics were in full effect. WAYG : decent Billies: The second highlight of the night. Boyd and dave were jamming together for so long with so much energy. AFter they were done they gave each other high fives which I had never seen . Dave come out and say: "I hope y'all have had as much fun as we did" I think this shows that the band was into the show Gravedigger: This was supposed to be Long Black Veil but I was happy to hear Gravedigger. I love the lyrics. WYA : waiting to hear this. Dave's intro, before the moaning had about two mintues of him saying somethnig with an echo. Part of it was "come and dance with me" in a really dark voice. Fucking sweet song though. Outro was unreal; This song kicked ass and had a ton of energy. 8th row tonight...it will be amazing.

This was my 4th DMB show and this was probably the most mellow show I have been too. I say this in a good way as me and some friends were just relaxing in the lawn so I wasn't disapointed at all. DDTW - a standard opener, even this song was played a little slower. GREY STREET - Always good and seemed to get the crowd more into the show than DDTW did. SMTS--> ASTB--> TOO MUCH - this jam started off slow with SMTS but it finally got the whole crowd going with everyone singing along and Too Much being the same... it was still lacking energy from the band though. SAY GOODBYE - This was probably the most pleasant surprise of the night, Carter had a great drum intro and from there the song was tight for not being played in a long time. PM--> SATELLITE - PM was really slow and only when they switched it to Satellite did the crowd get back into it. BARTENDER - there is never a bad version of this live, but the band still didn't seem really into it. The ending was nice though with a Butch solo and Leroi on the pennywhistle. CAPTAIN - I simply love this song and it is great to hear live. JIMI THING - Best song of the night with Boyd and Leroi having great solos and finally Dave with an awesome guitar solo strumming and plucking the hell out of the 6th string. KIT KAT JAM - The music was tight and right on, but I couldn't undertand anything Dave was saying throughout the song lol. WAYG - Standard from the other 2 times I heard it, but it's still a beautiful song. BILLIES - Nice closer as Boyd went nuts on his solos and Dave jamming right next to him and Stefan throughout the song. The encore from here was surprsingly good in my opinion. GRAVEDIGGER - I really like the sound to this song, very Bob Dylan to me and I wish the entire band would play it. WYA - This song has come a long way from last year with it's long intro and outro of "Get down on your knees motherfucker!" It was another great DMB experience and I'm just sad that I'm done for the summer.

OMG! that was the best dave show i've ever been to! from when they walked out on stage tuning until they left it screaming.... would've liked to see a different opener but hey... HE PLAYED SAY GOODBYE! DAMN! it was amazing! no one expected it... kit kat jam with lyrics... TRIPPING BILLIES! i've been to 11 concerts and NEVER heard it live... It was freaking amazing... the crowd was awesome, lighters high in the air, banging on the seats, chanting "two step" full of energy! words can't express this concert...dave wouldn't stop thanking us... PITTSBURGH's THE SHIZNAT!!

This was by far one of the best DMB shows I have ever been to. They played so many songs from their older albums. So Much to Say and Too Much were excellent. So were Say Goodbye and Don't Drink the Water. I loved hearing You Never Know, Where Are You Going, Grey Street, Captain, and Bartender. The best songs from the new album, in my opinion. Also Gravedigger was a cool new one for the crowd. The three best of the evening, though, were Jimi Thing, that went on for a good 10 minutes of the band jamming. And then the two closers, Tripping Billies and What You Are. The band really gave everything they had and more last night, and the crowd was into it every step of the way.

wow, did he really play this setlist. dave and the guys went off for what was the best show ive seen, EVER. um, yes that was say goodbye that he played. first time that the played it since the gorge last year and it was worth the wait. tripping billies, proudest monkey, jimi thing satalites were UNBELIEVABLE. one of the best balances of new songs and old. The traffic sucked but the parking lot scene was worth the wait. only low points of the night were he opened with dont drink the water and closed with what you are. good songs but id rather him have jammed out more. kinda a slow start to the show. but after grey street the crowd was rocking. i cant wait to find out how hes gonna follow it up tonight regardless this show ROCKED.

Finally waking up and recovering from last nights show,I look at todays reviews and found some mixed opinions .Well as a true DMB fan here is mine, one HELL of a set list except for Satellite ( it was good but it is to played out).Never have I seen seen a band get so involved and pumped for a show ever!A moment like that truely priceless. The only bummer of the night was when I went to eat after the show at this little red-neck restaurant and overhear a group of preppy girls discussing that they thought the show was boring, but get had enough nerve to compliment the recent N'Sync concert they went to!Well the only thing I have to say about that is at least Daves dances aren't coreographed.:)But seriously, an honest opinion, excellent performance and a night to remember.Cant wait till tonights show,it will be hard to beat from last night!See you all tonight and have fun.

WOW!This was my first DMB show and I finally know what everyone is talking about. This band is amazing live!DDTW-best version of the song I've ever heard. It was a great opener and had the crowd jammin.GS sounded good as well.YNK-I really wasn't expecting this song but it sounded great.SMTS and TM were up next and I was going nuts when I heard these songs because they are 2 of my faves.SG-Woah,where did that come from? The crowd went bizerk when it was played and I don't think anyone expected it,including me.PM-I wish they would have played the version that is on Red Rocks because this one is too slow.Satellite was next.Nothing special, just ok and I think both Satellite and PM accomplished its goal of quieting down the crowd.Next came Bartender and once again the crowd was on its feet.I absolutely love Roi playing the flute at the end and it felt great to hear it live. After Bartender, Captain came on.It was a nice surprise and I was immediately reminded of Crush. They sound a lot alike. When JT came on, the crowd was bizerk once again.Boyd is hilarious to watch live and Dave was amazing on this song.WTWE-same as always.KKJ came on and I honestly had no idea what song it was.It sounded good though with some cool lyrics.WAYG is a great song and Roi's solo in the middle of the song is his best solo in my opinion. It sounded great. But the highlight of the night was TB.the crowd was completely ecstatic for this song and was a great closer. The encore was good as well.First time I heard GD and hopefully it will become a full band song soon.It is a Halloween-esque song and that is definitely a good thing.WYA sounded great and I think the new verse at the end really adds to the song.It is a great closer as well. All in all,it was a great experience.I really wanted to hear Crash,41,and Two Step but it was a great set nonetheless.I guess that just gives me and excuse to see them again next year!!

Tonight was my 27th DMB show and I will say it made the top five and was a great way to come off my 1 1/2 year DMB hiatus. It seems that every show the band has played at Starlake as been a great one. The energy was so high it was unreal, at times I think they were almost too loud, but at least you could hear everything. Now onto the show, DDTW--Great energy and got the crowd going. It seems that every show that I have been to that they have opened w/ this the show has been great. Grey Street--Good version really got the crowd going even more. You Never Know--Decent song live, it was funny to see some people trying to dance to it w/ it's beat count. SMTS-Bridge-Too Much - It was great quite possibly the best ASTB i have ever heard and the outro to Too Much was different and great. Say Goodbye--YES!!! so great to hear it again, one of my favs and great live. Proudest Monkey-Satellite-- Great always enjoy when they do it. Fool To Think--Seemed to almost have a techno drum beat really liked it a lot. Bartender--always great live. Captain--Great to hear it live. Jimi Thing--AMAZING everyone was going off and the new jam at the end is so tight. When the World Ends--it was decent, but enjoyable.Kit Kat Jam--Great to hear it live, really like the lyrics a lot. Where are you Going--I like the song, but would have rather heard something else, but I'm not complaining. Tripping Billies--Tons of energy, Boyd went off. SImply amazing. Encore-- Gravedigger--Awesome song, I like how Dave is starting to play solo again. What you are--HO MY GOD, this song has evolved so much and was AMAZING great way to end the show. Hopefully they can keep it up for tomorrow night.

THE DEFINITIVE REVIEW: my 43rd show Don't Drink the Water: solid opener. solid crowd energy. Grey Street: great number two. stepped up the energy even more. You Never Know: man, this song is good. SMTS->Too Much: excellent. ASTB had Dave being a scatman, flailing his arms around and making goofy faces as he did his thing. Not too much Butch on this one though which was a let down. He adds so much to this when he funks himself in there. Say Goodbye: surprise! Monkey->Satellite...good two songs to put together but slowed down the tempo WAY too much. Fool To Think: not so great live. Bartender: great yet again. Captain: solid. Jimi: WOW...Roi and Boyd took it over. And Dave busted out his best solo yet on it. VERY NEIL YOUNG-like. Awesome. WTWE:ehh. KitKat: very good live...translated very well from studio version. WAYG: solid slow song. Billies: Great...would have been better as the encore though. ENCORE: Gravedigger: makes me want to kill myself. What You Are: why wasn't this played in the middle of the show?! It is NOT a good encore song in my humbled opinion. Overall, the pit seats helped the show out. But not everyone was up there, but it was a very solid show. I will be back with more tomorrow night, God-willing I make the trip again.

The show was great! It was the second of the summer I attended(the first being Hersheypark). A great mix of old and new. The highlight of the night, the suprise of SG! One of my favorites and def. wasn't expecting it. The Seats were good in section 6, the crowd was great, and Dave was AWESOME!

HOLY HELL! THIS WAS ONE HELL OF A SHOW!This was only my second Dave show but I could tell by the adrenaline pumping through the ENTIRE croud this was one of the best shows Dave has ever played! DDTW got the croud pumped up like you wouldnt believe. Grey Street was also great. Say Goodbye was also unbelievable. Trippin Billies jam session was amazing! The whole show was insane! Satelite and Jimi Thing made it even better. I had a chance to get tickets to tonights show in the parking lot but i was broke..im sure its gunna be another crazy night tonight Thanks Dave for an amazing evening. I cant wait to see him again!!!.

I must say that I would have classified this show as one for the ages..if it wasn't for the obnoxious people!! Security was very lax, which made it difficult for those trying to enjoy a DMB show in their "real" seats. Between the teenie-boppers and the drunks, I don't know which was worse. The setlist was stellar. The boys were right on the money and had a lot of fun. I just happened to be in the 5th row of the pit when I heard that reverberating drum solo from Carter kicking in that could only mean one thing..SAY GOODBYE! Totally unexpected and what a treat! I was personally anticipating PROUDEST MONKEY myself, and I got it! Very pleasing to the ears. TRIPPING BILLIES was absolute mayhem and WHAT YOU ARE has already become an epic..AWESOME intro. Despite the crowd, an all around splendid evening in the Pittsburgh area!

I simply want to write that these two shows were the best of 10 I've seen this Summer from coast to coast. The great mix of Lillywhite / Busted Stuff tunes with some old favorites was what I'd been waiting for in Boston, Philly, NYC, San Diego, LA, Irvine & Hershey. Say Goodbye & Proudest Monkey on Friday night were such a treat - to get those 2 great tunes, done very well - on one night was worth the price of admission alone. The rockin' Watchtower on Saturday was almost as good as San Diego with Warren Haynes (PLUS Nancies)!! These two shows ALMOST made up for (what to me had been) a summer of shows that failed to meet expectations. I've heard enough of LW / BS songs to last me a lifetime. As much as I enjoy them, I'm still longing for more older tunes. Such is life...Waah waah. One last thing: TRAFFIC AT STARLAKE SUX! THEY SHOULD USE ANOTHER VENUE IN PITTSBURGH!

I sat front row. I was front row. Front effin' row, ME....front row. Me, security, Dave. 8 years after the first....I stood there sweating in the front FUCKING row. I don't know which was better, the smile on my friend's face as he stared in amazement at what was before him or the show itself. Front row.....there's just nothing left after that. I don't even know where to turn now.

This my friends was a great show. I drove 7 hours to get there and i would do it again just to hear say goodbye. The drum solo was sick. Jimi thing jam out was nice too. Gravedigger switched the words a little. And what you are was awesome with the (down on your knees part). Overall it was a good show. But then again any time you get to see dave is a good time.
