This was the second DMB show I saw in 06. I saw them when they were at the Shoreline a month or so prior. I thought that show was bland, with a poor setlist, though it got better towards the end. It didn't hold a candle to this short five song set. Loving Wings was okay, not one of my favorites, but they made something out of it. Next was Grace is Gone which they actually played last time they were at the Shoreline, so I was little surprised they were playing it again, but Boyd rocked out with an Appalachian style fiddle solo. Ants Marching was a treat because between the three times I've seen them this was the first time they played it. Dave didn't trust us to do the "People in every directions" part, probably because it was a festival crowd, not just their fans. But they played the hell out of it anyways and the crowd was loving it: this was one Dave Matthews Band song everyone knew. Carter's drumming was unbelievable, and everyone was loving it.

There must have been a lot DMB fans in the crowd because there were alotta cheers following the first few chords of Warehouse. They were doing the 'woos' right on cue. Dave was rocking hard on this one. Stefan, who was playing on an acoustic bass-guitar (this is an acoustic festival), was laying down some great lines and Leroi's sunny sax parts warmed everyone up. I had a feeling that they would play a song with Neil. I think they have pretty much every time they play at Bridge School. I also knew Cortez was in their repertoire, so I was betting on that. And I was right. It was cool to hear this all acoustic version compared to the one on Central Park with Warren Haynes menacing lead rifts. This one was reserved, Neil sang the first verse, stoic and calm, strumming on his acoustic guitar. Butch was on grand piano as I recall, contributed his fair share to a great work out. As the song reached its climax Dave's voice howled the lyrics as Neil Young shouted in the background "They came dancing 'cross the water"! Despite its short length, this show was action packed, no Dave on electric guitar, no songs from the previous and forthcoming album. Two relatively new ones, two classics, and one great rock song with one great rock and roll legend!!!
