RFK Show Goes Awry

By Waldo Jaquith

At the June 10th show at RFK in Washington D.C., things got pretty rough. Security didn't handle the crowd properly, and permitted hundreds of fans to rush the stage, resulting in dozens of injuries. There was a large drug bust, many fans reported that the venue freely sold alcohol to minors. On both the list and the boards there was extensive discussion about the show, and most people agreed that it was a disaster in terms of security. Impressively, the band responded to this problem on their website, criticizing RFK's staff and issued a veiled threat to RFK for their poor response to the problems. Hopefully the band is sensitive enough to crowd problems that we won't see a repeat of this. We got an extensive letter from reader BJ Leiby, who did a great job of summarizing the situation. Keep reading for the full run-down.
