Band Funds C'ville Bikes

During last night's Charlottesville City Council meeting, DMB had a surprise waiting. Council was set to vote on $4,500 in funding for a free bicycle program, akin to Portland's Yellow Bike Project and Copenhagen Free City Cycle. It would put 30 bright yellow bicycles along the Main Street corridor, intended for anybody to pick up and use as they see fit. Before Council could debate the merits of the project, a city official stood up and announced that Dave Matthews Band would be providing the money to get the program started, making city funds unnecessary. It's stuff like this that shows what swell guys that DMB are.
