Devil's in Billboard's Details
By Waldo JaquithJul.14.2003
In an article in Billboard, a large number of details have been made available regarding Dave Matthews' September solo album, Some Devil. It's reported that Trey Anastasio doesn't merely perform on the album, but also co-wrote a track with Dave. Producer Steve Harris also expanded his role, having both performed on the album and co-wrote and arranged some of the songs. Most of the album consists of songs written this year, and songs "Stay or Leave" and "Gravedigger" are specifically named as appearing on the album. In addition to Tim Reynolds playing guitar on the album, drummer Brady Blade (Steve Earle, Jewel, Indigo Girls) and bassist Tony Hall (Neville Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan) perform throughout. Apparently having learned from fans' reaction to the controversial 2001 release, Everyday, Matthews says of Some Devil: "I hope people like it, but I try not to get too excited, because what if everyone fuckin' hates it?"
