Dave and Emmylou on CMT Crossroads
By Waldo JaquithOct.02.2003
Dave Matthews and Emmylou Harris are set to team up for CMT's Crossroads, the TV network has announced. The monthly TV show pairs up a country artist with an artist from another genre for a performance interlaced with discussion. The show will be taped on November 7th in New York City, in front of an invitation-only audience. (There's no word on how those invitations will occur; it is within the realm of possibility that The Warehouse might be inviting members.) It is set to broadcast in January. This is not the first Crossroads effort: Dave Matthews Band was paired with The Dixie Chicks in May of last year, but it never happened, due to logistical problems. Dave Matthews has somewhat of a history with Emmylou Harris—not only did he sing on two tracks on her 2000 release, Red Dirt Girl, but drummer Brady Blade and bassist Tony Hall, who performed extensively on Some Devil, have both worked extensively with Emmylou Harris. Our thanks to Matt Anderson for the tip.
