Haverford to Honor Dave
By Waldo JaquithMar.29.2005
Each year, Pennsylvania's Haverford College gives out four honorary degrees "to men and women who have distinguished themselves in letters, the sciences, or the arts" that are "noted for their contributions to the overall betterment of humankind and/or Haverford College." At their May 15 commencement, Dave Matthews will be one of those recipients. It will be Matthews' first college diploma. The other three people receiving honorary degrees are California Community Foundation president Antonia Hernandez, Texas political columnist Molly Ivins, and senior National Public Radio correspondent Juan Williams. All will give a speech to students the night before commencement, and a short speech at commencement. Thanks to Mark Berenson for the news.
