"Best Venue Ever" Contest Results
By Ryan 'Shep' ShepardLast week, we ran the review of the Bonnaroo Music Festival 2004 CD, and with it ran a contest: to submit an essay about the location that you thought was the Best Venue Ever for the Dave Matthews Band. It could have been a previous venue from years ago, one they play frequently now, or one they've never played before.
Well, we received a moderate response to the contest (slackers!) and once the deadline approached, the staff of nancies.org went to town, deliberating. From these multiple essays, we narrowed it down to a group of roughly ten, then a final three.
Of the final three, we found one to be very well written, and worthy of publication (as well as the free copy of the Bonnaroo Music Festival 2004 CD). That winner was Thomas Hamill of Bloomfield, New Jersey.
What follows is his submission, edited ever-so-slightly for clarity (paragraph breaks, yo!) but other than that, not a thing was touched. So move on to read his winning entry.
Congratulations, Thomas. Good writing.
