Please note that this review is three years late-- but listening to the tapes the other day I thought that this show should get some of the respect it deserves... Like I said such a great night... the set was, if anything, a power setlist-- they broke out alot of their high energy songs (perhaps aided some by the crowd as you'll read later). The band could not have opened the show in a better way. #41, Nancies, and Warehouse were all on top form. Warehouse had a great stop time intro, I could almost feel the lights. The venue was pretty small, so the environment was fantastic, especially the lighting, all night. Dave let out a devilish cackle before LIOG (Dave said it was a song about having no regrets when you're dead too), and I thought that they were going to play Haloloween, but to no avail. Tripping Billies- Again note that they haven't played anything that would drop the energy level. Crash was good this night, Two Step had the intro verse about time passing by quickly. Than Best... this was so good. I noted that both Crash and Best have been played after Two Step at various points in DMB history (summer '96 and '94 respectively) and this part of the set was well conceived. The first time the new bridge (premiered 10/4) linked So Much/Too Much, really cool when the crowd sang the last 'little baby' of SMTS. Jimi thing seemed to last forever (i don't remember much about Satellite) and Boyd and Roi had two/three solos apiece. This song lasted around 15 mins-- quite long for a Jimi at this point. DIDO had the 'tea party' line. True was alot of fun...it didn't seem like this concert was going to end. Ants closed it all well. The encore was one of the best I've ever seen of heard.... note: both songs were covers which is weird. Some people in front tossed t-shirts on stage which prompted Dave to say "I'm glad that wasn't a baseball... it scard the shit out of me." He also screwed up the lyrics to Angel which must be dissapointing to him since he only sings one verse... 'how the hell can a person come home in the evening... after not going to work in the morning... and have nothing to say?' No one really caught it though. Watchtower was on point the most energetic I've ever heard. Strfan had a slide bass intro. When Dave snag 'laaaate' someone threw a towel or shirt which hit the mic. Dave stopped in mid-note (Carter eventually stopped after he realized what was going on) all while Dave yelled into the mic 'Fuck that shit!' and then went into the most amazing, aggressive finish to the song I've had opportunity to hear, bar none. This show had everything one could want. If you have the chance to get it on tape, pick it up, you won't be dissapointed!!
